Saving ⮚ Blog 13

Money is a big issue when it comes to traveling. Most people don’t travel because they don’t have the money. Yet, here is a high school senior whose been to 34/50 states, Boston MA 2x, India and soon to be Ukraine. Three of these trips I pay in full by myself with little to no fundraising.       One of the reasons is my job. I have a well-paying and flexible job that allows me to get an education and travel, whether I travel with family, or strangers that later become friends. A job brings in money, which I can put aside and save, but it helps to know what you’re saving for. When you know what you’re saving for, you know how much it’ll cost you, which then allows you to set a plan. Back in 2019, when I went to India on a humanitarian trip for two weeks, I also had the opportunity to fly back to Boston again for a week for my sister and cousin. These two trips probably cost me about 5k total, but it was totally worth it. That might not seem like a huge chunk of money, but as a 16 y

Travel playlist

For this blog, I asked everyone on social media what their go-to travel songs were, and with that, I put together a playlist. This was definitely one of the hardest blogs I've ever written, so if it happens to be short...that's why. Blog 12 → lets go!     The playlist that I put together, is a collaboration playlist, which means that you can add any of the songs you listen to when traveling that aren't already on the list. I will post that link at the end of this post, so stay tuned.  Songs range all the way from country to indie pop, which means that you can't go wrong.       Thanks for taking the time to read this short post. I hope that while I was working on this post, you had time to read any posts that you may have missed. As always, feel free to let me know what kind of posts/content you would like to see in the future. Here is the link to the travel playlist on Spotify:  Travel - playlist by Liberty Adams | Spotify   See you all soon! @adventures.with.libe

Travel Snacks

If any of you guys reading this have any ideas about what to blog about, let me know! I am running out of fun ideas. Blog 11, travel snacks! Everyone has those snacks that they have to include on any trip in order to make it that much better. Here is my list of what is taken for any trip longer than a day and weekend.     For those of you who don't know, I come from a family of seven! Having a big family means having to bring more snacks to keep everyone fed. Which also means having two (2) coolers, and two (2) baskets of snacks. The cooler will contain our sandwich supplies which consist of the following: a couple loafs of bread, mayonnaise, mustard (only for those who like it on their sandwich.), turkey/ham, cheese, you get the idea. We also keep carrots, apples, grapes, go-gurt, hummus in the cooler for snacks and lunches.      Dry, sweet and salty snacks are the ones that we go through the fastest. There's something about eating a dry, room temperature snack without wor

Backpack Essentials!

For blog #10, I wasn't so sure what I was going to write about. I thought about my trip to Universal Studios, but I shut that down (for now) because I didn't really want to write about another one my trips and all the things to do while in the park. As a result, this post will be all about backpack essentials and my go-to objects.      As a girl whos been road tripping since she was 10, a two-strap backpack is my go-to. I love having a backpack full of all my activities in one place. A backpack has multiple sized pockets which helps me keep everything organized. A school sized backpack is what I use and will continue using. I have used multiple backpacks over the last eight years, but the backpack that I used on my last roadtrip to the Mighty 5 National Parks Spring 2020 is from Target. I would rate the backpack a 4/5 stars only because there is a zipper the goes along the bottom of the bag, and I have absolutely no clue what the purpose of it is. Other than that, the bac

Disneyland & California Adventure

Like I said in the last post, week #9 will be all about Disneyland. This was a one week trip taken at the end of April in 2018. I have never been to Disneyland before this, but I still had a magical time! So, here we go!!     Little did I know that my sisters and I wouldn't be alone. My parents coordinated this trip with two aunts and uncles, so instead of there being seven of us, there were 17 of us. More the merrier right?! This trip still would've been fun if it was just my immediate family, but having extended family tag along, made this trip that much better.      To start off, we spent two days in Disneyland, that also included California Adventure. This was possible because we had a two-day park hopper, which allowed to go back and forth between Disneyland and California Adventure. I don't have my travel journal with me, because I am currently at work, so I will try to do this to the best of my ability with the knowledge that remains inside my head.      At the t

Back again?! It's good to see you! If there is anything that you want to see, or have ideas on how to grow the account reach out I'd love to get your ideas! Blog #8 will be longer but full of great information, so hold on tight to your seat.     I spent three days in California. Day one, started with the Redwood Forest. If you plan on driving through the Hyperion Tree (the 7th largest tree in Redwood National Park), keep in mind, it will be easier if you have a small car that isn't too wide or tall. My family paid to drive our expedition through the tree, but there was the chance that we could've got stuck, so we brought in our side mirrors, and drove very slow. Defiantly a memorable experience, you just have to be caution when driving through. If you don't drive through the tree, you can stand right underneath it, and look straight up into the sky. That view is breathtaking. Redwood National Park is located in Northernmost California, about 325 miles (about 6

Oregon

For those of you who are new, welcome! There was no new blog post last week because I was working on changing the name of this blog and the conjoining Instagram account. Since I will no longer be in high school after this spring, and I was in the process of designing t-shirts, and I thought that now would be a good time. So instead of @high._.school._.traveler the new name is @adventures.with.liberty. Thank you for those of you who voted on Instagram, you helped me out! Now on to blog #7!     Unlike the Washington post, this will be shorter. I loved Oregon more than Seattle, even if there wasn't quite as much to do. Just to give you an overview of this post, I'll talk about the aquarium, Main Street, and the hotel that I will stay at next time I make a trip out that way!     Who doesn't love the aquarium?! The Oregon Coast Aquarium is located in Newport. This was definitely one of the most fun activities I did. Obviously the prices can be high, but I can't tell you

Washington State

Blog #6 woohoo!! In case you haven't read the introduction post, I have been to 37/50 US States. I will start with the West Coast and make our way to the East Coast minus Alaska and Hawaii. The things to do, where to eat, show some pictures and just talk about my experience while in that state. Todays post is all about Washington State!     One of the things that you should definitely add to your list of adventures is Bainbridge Island. In order to access Bainbridge, you need to take a 45 minute or so ferry ride. It will cost about $7.70 for an adult passenger, but keep in mind, I was there September of 2013, so the prices and whatnot could have changed. While on this cute island, I suggest you visit Doc's Marina Grill  for either lunch or dinner. My family went there for dinner and a  rememberable   experience. The people there are friendly, the restaurant is right on the harbor, I am unsure if they still do this now, but back in 2013 they provided blankets for those sit
