Oregon

For those of you who are new, welcome! There was no new blog post last week because I was working on changing the name of this blog and the conjoining Instagram account. Since I will no longer be in high school after this spring, and I was in the process of designing t-shirts, and I thought that now would be a good time. So instead of @high._.school._.traveler the new name is @adventures.with.liberty. Thank you for those of you who voted on Instagram, you helped me out! Now on to blog #7!

Unlike the Washington post, this will be shorter. I loved Oregon more than Seattle, even if there wasn't quite as much to do. Just to give you an overview of this post, I'll talk about the aquarium, Main Street, and the hotel that I will stay at next time I make a trip out that way!

Who doesn't love the aquarium?! The Oregon Coast Aquarium is located in Newport. This was definitely one of the most fun activities I did. Obviously the prices can be high, but I can't tell you how much it cost back in September of 2013. My child ticket said $0.00 (don't know how that was possible) but as of 01/20/2021 the prices are as follows: Adults $24.95, Seniors $19.95, Young Adults $19.95, Child $14.95 and then the toddlers and infants are free ($0.00). Here is the link to check those admission fees if you are interested. Admission & Hours - Oregon Coast Aquarium

The only animal that I remember is the octopus! My sister, Treasure, remembers that octopus and the sea urchins that are in the "waiting pool", where you can go up and touch them! Who doesn't love touching animals?! You can totally make a day trip out of it, if you want to. Next stop is Main Street, located in Seaside.

I don't remember much about Main Street and Seaside besides the fact that it has cute tourist shops. I wish I could tell you more, but I can't, because I don't remember :( If you want to know more about Main Street, DM, or comment and I'll help you out the best I can, and find resources that will hopefully help you out!

One of the last things that I remember and continue to remember is the hotel that my family stayed at while in Lincoln City;  Pelican Shores Inn. As soon as you walk into the room, there are these huge windows that allow to see out into the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the most breath taking views I have seen. Pelican Shores Inn now has balconies that are conjoined with your room, so you can easily walk out into the open air. PRO TIP: Don't run away from a big wave in the ocean, it will topple you over. Now it's time for a little story time. One of the days that my family played in the Pacific Ocean, my mom told us to line up and hold each others hands. My mom however didn't hold any of our hands, she let of fend for ourselves. Because my mom wasn't there to help hold us up, the big wave came and knocked me and my three sisters over. After we fell over, we decided to run away from the huge waves that were coming our way. Long story short; hold your ground, and don't run away from the huge waves.

I wish I had more to say about Oregon and the all the things that I wrote in my travel journal, but my hand writing has changed since I was in elementary school, so there isn't much there 🤣. Hope this was insightful and you enjoyed the little storytime. As always, feel free to reach out to me via comments below, or social media! Have a great rest of your week!
