Washington State
Blog #6 woohoo!! In case you haven't read the introduction post, I have been to 37/50 US States. I will start with the West Coast and make our way to the East Coast minus Alaska and Hawaii. The things to do, where to eat, show some pictures and just talk about my experience while in that state. Todays post is all about Washington State!
One of the things that you should definitely add to your list of adventures is Bainbridge Island. In order to access Bainbridge, you need to take a 45 minute or so ferry ride. It will cost about $7.70 for an adult passenger, but keep in mind, I was there September of 2013, so the prices and whatnot could have changed. While on this cute island, I suggest you visit Doc's Marina Grill for either lunch or dinner. My family went there for dinner and a rememberable experience. The people there are friendly, the restaurant is right on the harbor, I am unsure if they still do this now, but back in 2013 they provided blankets for those sitting outside so they would be comfortable. I would defiantly go back. I don't remember what else I did while there, but consider walking/exploring the island, maybe even make a day trip out of it :)
If taking boats out on the open water scares you, consider exploring Seattle, WA itself. Visit Pikes Market Place where a scene from the 1993 movie, Sleepless in Seattle was filmed. Maybe you even take that as an opportunity to shop at the market. Or, maybe you take an elevator to the top of the Space Needle for $12.00 (youth ticket). If seeing the city from the top of this monument, take a trip on the Seattle Center Monorail for only $2.00 (youth ticket) and see the city from a different perspective.
I personally did not like the Space Needle, but only because I have done the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri twice. That ride, and experience is more memorial to me than an elevator straight up. Don't let me shut you down though. If the Space Needle is something that you intend to do, by all means don't let me keep you.
One thing that I forgot to mention about Bainbridge Island is, bring a rain jacket and umbrella! That was one mistake that my family made. The locals in Seattle, told us that it like never rained there, so we left our umbrellas in the car. That was a bad decision though, it down poured on us, so we were glad we at lest had our rain jackets on. \
Hope this post was insightful. Below are some photos and descriptions of those photos. As always, feel free to comment or send me a DM.
