California

Back again?! It's good to see you! If there is anything that you want to see, or have ideas on how to grow the account reach out I'd love to get your ideas! Blog #8 will be longer but full of great information, so hold on tight to your seat.

I spent three days in California. Day one, started with the Redwood Forest. If you plan on driving through the Hyperion Tree (the 7th largest tree in Redwood National Park), keep in mind, it will be easier if you have a small car that isn't too wide or tall. My family paid to drive our expedition through the tree, but there was the chance that we could've got stuck, so we brought in our side mirrors, and drove very slow. Defiantly a memorable experience, you just have to be caution when driving through. If you don't drive through the tree, you can stand right underneath it, and look straight up into the sky. That view is breathtaking. Redwood National Park is located in Northernmost California, about 325 miles (about 6 hour drive) north of San Francisco. The Redwood National Park is roughly 50 miles long starting up in Crescent City, CA (near the Oregon border to the Redwood Creek watershed located south of Orick, CA.

On day two, there was plenty to accomplish. One of the very first things that we did was ride the Golden Gate Ferry to San Francisco. The tickets are a one-way fare, and depending of what city you are departing/arriving from, determines the cost of your ticket. My family left Larkspur so the cost of those tickets would be as follows. Adult single ride (ages 19-64) $13.00/ticket, youth (ages 5-18) $6.50/ticket, and than children (ages four and under) are free. Remember this is Larkspur to San Francisco. While on the ferry, you get a view of Alcatraz Island, which was kind of cool, not going to lie. After the ferry docked in San Francisco, Pier 39 was our next stop.

Pier 39 is a popular tourist destination, and a part of Fisherman's Wharf that is open year round. While at Pier 39, get ice cream, and watch the sea lions. Can't remember where on the pier we got the ice cream, but it was good if I remember having it 🤣. A whole load of sea lions "dock" at the pier during late July to mid May. During June to July the sea lions leave the pier to breed. This California trip was taken at the same time as Washington and Oregon. So if you haven't read those post, I suggest you go back and read them. Mid-September is when my family takes our vacations because it's the perfect weather!

Day three, was all things San Francisco. cost $8.40 give or take for our car to cross the bridge. After crossing the bridge, we made our way to Lombard Street aka Snake Alley. This was definitely one of my favorite things, and I want to go back just to do this one thing. After Lombard Street, we made our way to China Town. I can't tell you much about China Town because I actually never wrote about my experience there. There are many things that I wish I remembered, but I've experienced soo many other places that have been more enjoyable.

For those interested, Disneyland be next weeks post since that was a completely different trip, even though it's located in Cali. Thank you for all your support and taking the time to read these blog posts, it really means a lot. As always feel free to reach out, and I'll see ya'll next week!

This is my Golden Gate Ferry ticket. That allowed me to board the boat.

This is part of my three day travel journal for California. This is a postcard, that I labeled, so I knew what everything was.
